Zero-Maintenance Gates Built for South Florida
Vinyl gates are the top choice for homeowners who want a gate that matches their PVC fence perfectly — with none of the upkeep of wood or the rust risk of steel. XL Fencing installs Catalyst vinyl gates across Broward and Palm Beach County in every style and color we offer, matched seamlessly to any existing PVC fence system.
Our gates are factory fusion-welded with a built-in picture frame pattern — that construction is what keeps them square, not an internal insert. Heights of 4, 5, and 6 feet in single, double, or slide configurations. Catalyst products carry a lifetime warranty, and every installation is backed by our 1-year workmanship guarantee.

PVC Gates in South Florida: The Honest Details
How our PVC gates are actually built
PVC vinyl gates from Catalyst are factory fusion-welded — the rails, stiles, and pickets are heat-fused together at the factory with a picture frame pattern built into the gate’s structure. That’s what keeps them square and stable. This is also why internal aluminum or steel inserts don’t work with factory PVC gates: the welded construction doesn’t leave a hollow channel to slide a frame into the way an older-style gate might.
When does an external aluminum frame come into play?
A single gate leaf up to 5 feet wide is strong enough on its own — that’s the width XL Fencing warranties without an additional frame. Any leaf wider than 5 feet gets an external aluminum frame applied to the outside of the gate to carry the extra load and keep the wider span square. That frame is raw aluminum by default, or painted to match the fence color if appearance matters. Slide gates also get an external frame for the same reason. Double gates for wide driveway openings use two leaves, each kept under 5 feet, so no external frame is needed on each leaf.
The hinge post matters as much as the gate
Every PVC gate at XL Fencing hangs from a 5×5 post set in concrete. What most homeowners don’t see: the hinge post on every single gate we install gets an internal aluminum I-beam inserted inside it before it goes in the ground. That I-beam keeps the post perfectly plumb under the gate’s weight and daily use — if the hinge post leans even slightly, the gate will bind or drag. Getting the post right from the start is what makes the difference between a gate that works for years and one that needs adjustment.
Hardware: self-closing, stainless, powder-coated
Standard hardware on every PVC gate we build is self-closing, powder-coated stainless steel — chosen specifically because South Florida’s salt air ruins bare steel hardware quickly. Gravity latches are standard; upgrade hardware is available. If you want the gate to stay open rather than self-close (common on side-yard access gates), we can discuss that during the measure.
What a PVC Vinyl Gate Costs
Price comes down to five things: opening width, style, color, single versus double versus slide, and automation. A single privacy gate matched to an existing vinyl fence is the most affordable; a wide automated slide driveway gate is the most involved. We give a firm number after a free on-site measure — opening width, post condition, and access all move the labor — but we’ll give you the range over the phone so you’re never guessing.
Automating a PVC Vinyl Gate
Slide gates are the best match for driveway automation — they travel on a track rather than swinging out into traffic, they’re inherently suited to operators, and they handle daily cycles without the clearance issues a swing gate has in a tight driveway. Slide gates also need an external aluminum frame, which further reinforces them for the motor’s repeated force. We can add keypad entry, intercom, and app or remote control to a slide gate installation.
Swing gates can also be automated. If you’re considering automating a PVC swing gate, the leaf width matters: we don’t warranty swing gate leaves over 5 feet wide, and an operator on an oversized leaf will stress the hardware faster. We size everything for the operator load during the estimate — it’s worth designing in from the start rather than retrofitting later.

PVC & Vinyl Gate FAQs
Why choose a PVC vinyl gate in South Florida?
Vinyl gates never rot, rust, or need painting — ideal for South Florida’s humidity, heat, and salt air. They clean up with a garden hose and maintain their color for decades. Our Catalyst vinyl gates are factory fusion-welded with a picture frame pattern, producing a structurally solid gate without the flex issues of older-style vinyl construction.
What colors and styles are PVC vinyl gates available in?
XL Fencing installs PVC gates in every style we offer — full privacy (vertical or horizontal), semi-privacy, picket, shadowbox, and ranch rail — in white, tan, clay, Cypress, Coastal Cedar, Driftwood, and other Catalyst colors. Color is UV-stabilized through the entire material; it will not fade or peel.
How wide can a single PVC gate leaf be?
XL Fencing warranties single swing gate leaves up to 5 feet wide. Leaves over 5 feet require an external aluminum frame to carry the load properly. For wider driveway openings we build double gates (two leaves, each under 5 feet) or a slide gate, which also gets an external frame.
Do PVC vinyl gates need an internal frame to prevent sagging?
No — and internal frames don’t work with factory fusion-welded PVC. Our Catalyst gates are welded together at the factory with a picture frame pattern built in, which is what keeps them square. For any leaf over 5 feet wide, we add an external aluminum frame on the outside. Every hinge post also gets an internal aluminum I-beam inside the 5×5 post to keep it perfectly plumb.
Can a PVC vinyl gate be automated?
Yes. Slide gates work best for driveway automation — they travel on a track, handle daily cycles well, and avoid the clearance issues of a swing gate in a tight driveway. Swing gates can also be automated. XL Fencing integrates keypad, intercom, and app-based access control with either configuration.
Does a vinyl gate come with a warranty?
Catalyst vinyl gate products carry a manufacturer’s lifetime warranty against cracking, splitting, peeling, and color fade. XL Fencing warranties swing gate leaves up to 5 feet wide; wider leaves are built with an external aluminum frame and warranted as a framed gate. Installation workmanship is additionally covered by XL Fencing’s 1-year workmanship warranty.
Does a vinyl gate installation require a permit?
Gate installations in Broward and Palm Beach County typically require permits. XL Fencing handles all permit filings and final inspections on your behalf. Call (954) 482-0531 to get started.
How much does a vinyl gate cost?
Price depends on width, style, color, single versus double versus slide, and automation. A single privacy gate matched to an existing vinyl fence is the most affordable; a wide automated slide driveway gate is the most involved. We give a firm quote after a free on-site measure and a range over the phone.
How do I maintain a PVC vinyl gate?
The vinyl just needs an occasional rinse with a garden hose — it never rots, rusts, or needs painting. The hinges and latch are mechanical parts that benefit from an occasional check. Our standard self-closing hardware is powder-coated stainless steel, chosen specifically for South Florida’s salt-air environment.
What is the difference between full privacy and semi-privacy?
Full-privacy panels have no gaps between pickets for maximum screening and wind resistance — the standard choice for backyard gates. Semi-privacy uses spaced pickets for airflow and partial visibility, common on side-yard access gates. We match the gate style and color to your existing fence during the measure.
1-Year Workmanship Warranty on All Gate & Automation Installations
Every gate XL Fencing installs is backed by our 1-year workmanship warranty — covering installation quality, gate operation, and hardware function.
